Will You Be That Person?
Did you know that just last year, only 5% of wasted food actually made it to the compost? According to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, 66.2 million tons of waste were generated, and 95% of that went into our landfills.
Not composting our food waste has become a massive problem over the last few years and significantly contributes to global warming. When food is burned in the landfill, it releases harmful gases like methane into our atmosphere—that is where Painted Bins comes in. Painted Bin's goal is to create accessible compost bins in our community while teaching our youth at the same time. They hold contests for children to get their art featured on the sides of these bins. It allows these kids to learn about composting while solving the problem and showing off their artwork. They also offer free small compost bins and make them accessible to everyone.
Just one person composting can make a difference. Will that person be you? (Thank you)
